The theme for the Mayor's Ball in 2015 was A Night at the Oscars. Over 170 guests were impeccably turned out and thoroughly enjoyed a selection of film music played by the Orchestra. The event raised £2585 for charity - contributing to what was the most successful year for the Mayor of Porthcawl's Charity Fund to date! The Musical Director of the Orchestra, Jack Bridger, was among five recipients of a special Aspey award (named for the Mayor) for his services to the town.
On 18th July 2015, for the second year, we took part in the Porthcawl Carnival. The theme this year was Science Fiction - so Star Wars was an obvious choice for us. We had great fun learning several pieces from Star Wars and making the float. We made a giant Death Star, an 80ft battle scene from The Empire Strikes Back and black Sith hoods for the orchestra to wear.
Here's a clip of us playing in the Porthcawl Carnival. Thanks to Georgia Jones for filming it.

We were invited to play at the Llanelli Music and Jazz Festival 2015 on Sunday 30th August 2015. We played a selection of contemporary pieces which went down very well with the audience. The festival was in aid of Leukemia Research.
We held our Christmas Concert on Friday 4th December 2015. We played a range of pieces including classical, musical theatre and contemporary Christmas songs. We raised money for the Sandville Centre with our raffle.
On Wednesday 16th December we played for the guests attending the midnight showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the Odeon Cinema in Bridgend.
