On 19th July 2014, we took part in the Porthcawl Carnival. The theme was Porthcawl from 1914 to the present day. We chose to present a very musical snapshot of Porthcawl in the 1960's.
We donned our psychedelic costumes and played music from the era, including: All my loving, When I'm 64, Surfin' USA, Yesterday and many more.
As part of our float we recreated the Stoneleigh Club, complete with a dance floor and cocktail bar. We also made 120ft of waves to go on the float and Vespa scooters for our music stands.
On 2nd August 2014, we took part in the events organized by Porthcawl Museum to mark 100 years since the start of World War One.
We played period music under the Bandstand in John Street whilst other events were going on throughout town, including a 1914 Recruiting Sergeant drafting people outside the museum, a Suffragette march (and riot) through the town centre and various talks in the Y Centre.
The Last Post and Reveille were played on a 100 year old bugle by our Trumpet player, Mat.
On Saturday 11th October 2014, we played our first Autumn Concert to an audience of 90. We played a variety of music, from Bach to the Beatles.
The evening was a great success and we raised £150 for the Porthcawl Museum with a raffle.
On 13th December 2014, we played outside Porthcawl Museum, on Porthcawl's High Street. The Museum volunteers handed out carol sheets for the shoppers to sing along.
